Copper, Gold Explorer Liberty Star Receives Updated ZTEM Bid

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”)(LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce receipt of a new bid for ZTEM electromagnetic (EM) geophysical studies from Geotech Ltd. (“Geotech”). The new bid is for fixed wing flight over the Hay Mountain portion of the Company’s Tombstone Super Project in Cochise County, AZ. According to this latest bid, Liberty Star will see a savings of over 50% from the original helicopter borne proposal. Liberty Star is going forward with Geotech’s required 50% deposit to begin the fixed wing ZTEM program within the next two to three weeks. The aircraft and staff are available within that time frame.

Total costs, including program mobilization/demobilization, the over-flight of the ZTEM survey, and reporting are $174,100.

Liberty Star’s Hay Mountain Project Update: ZTEM

 TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (OTCQB: LBSR) is pleased to announce geophysical contractor Geotech Ltd.(”Geotech”) has proposed a money saving program of fixed wing aircraft (vs helicopter) borne ZTEM geophysical surveys over the Hay Mountain target and the Tombstone Super Project in Cochise County, Arizona.

Geotech geophysicists are currently adjusting flight lines and preparing a new bid for the ZTEM survey which the Company hopes to fly as soon as possible, possibly by the end of the month.

1. The 2^nd archeological study (NR 149) has been submitted to the Arizona State Land Department and along with the previously submitted archaeological study (Feb 21, 2013) awaits comment and award of permit from State officials. No significant artifacts were located in either area.
2. Geochemical field work will proceed on the State MEP portions Hay Mountain claims as soon as those permits have been received from the State. When these rock chip, soil, and vegetation samples are assayed all 17 rare earth elements (REEs) will be included in the analysis array, instead of only four REEs previously included in the first assay package of the area (NR 127).

Copper, Gold, REE Explorer Liberty Star Operations Update, Southeast Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”)(LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce a tentative schedule beginning in mid- to late April for a ZTEM airborne electromagnetic survey over the Company’s Hay Mountain claims in Cochise County, Arizona. Liberty Star has set up a separate operating account for the Hay Mountain portion of the Tombstone Super Project and has deposited $50 thousand in that account. Additional funds will be directed into this account to pay for ZTEM, geochem and diamond drilling. Geotech believes that electromagnetic conditions will be good for the airborne survey as early as mid- to late April. The helicopter borne flight will take about a week, assuming good weather. Modeling and analysis of the data will take approximately 2 weeks.

Other highlights for the 1^st quarter 2013:

1. Operational overhead has been substantially reduced. The Company no longer maintains offices separate from the Kolb Rd. warehouse, and the small headquarters office at Sutler Lane, central Tucson. A new accounting firm has been engaged based on its competitive pricing and specialization in the small cap and mining industries. These and other measures will save approximately $150,000 per year in operating overhead.
2. The second archeological study announced in NR 148 (Feb 22 “Liberty Star Completes Archeological Study on Hay Mountain MEPs”) has been completed and has been sent to the Arizona State Land Department in order that we can obtain permits for geochem sample collection and future drill siting if warranted in our northern most MEPs (Mineral Exploration Permits). REE, Gold, Copper Explorer Liberty Star Completes Archeological Study on Hay Mountain Mineral Exploration Permits, Southeast Arizona

 TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”)(LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce the submission of the Class III Archeological Report (the “Report”) to the Arizona State Land Department (“ASLD”). The Report fulfills the ASLD requirement to complete an archeological study of Company lands held under State Mineral Exploration Permits (“MEPs”) which can now be surface sampled and drilled, with discovery leading to State Mineral Leases. This report will be available on the Company web site. The Report, submitted by Jim Moses of Antigua Archeology, LLC, found no substantial archeological remains that would delay exploration of the Hay Mountain MEPs. Liberty Star also holds federal mining claims in adjacent areas over federal land. These claims do not require an archaeologic study, and have already been sampled.

The Arizona MEP process requires the submission of archeological studies in a professional archaeological report, which the state will evaluate and approve recommendations. This approval precedes all geologic field work which disturbs the surface, including geochemical studies. The Company directed Antigua to cover all possibilities for future geochemical and drilling activities, in order that the Company has the freedom to select its own priorities for such work without permitting delays. As a result, on approval, the Company may conduct sampling in increments to determine where it is most important to have a close spaced survey grid in preparation to determine final positioning of drill holes. The Report submitted today to ASLD comprised 32 potential drill sites along with 5.45 miles of associated access roads. Additional sample lines were included so that a square grid survey (at 100 meters x 100 meters) would allow the field staff to conduct further work to help more closely define the details of the anomaly which thus far has included markers for gold, copper, moly, lead and rare earth elements (4 of 17).

The 100 meter sampling grid, which if carried out within both the REE, gold, copper, moly & lead anomalies would require another 2,672 samples. Liberty Star will do further sampling in increments to determine where it is most important to have a close spaced grid in preparation to final positioning of drill holes, from a selection of the 32 permitted sites, as well as others on the federal mining claims. Because of the cost-effectiveness of doing this required archaeological study while the archeological assessment team is on site rather than a piecemeal approach, the Company ordered the additional drill and geochemical sites surveyed, as well as currently identified potential drill targets. These multiple additional permitted sites will allow Liberty Star to have more options of drill site selection during the exploratory drilling phase.

Additionally, Liberty Star has approximately two square miles of State MEPs that were acquired after the initial geochem results were plotted on maps over previously acquired land. Antigua Archaeology will complete another survey and report of the additional lands which, on approval of the ASLD, will then undergo initial geochemical sampling for 77 elements, including all 17 rare earth elements at our initial sample grid of 200 meters by 400 meters. Interpretation will determine if we will keep these MEPs and do further geochem work leading to drilling on them.

Rare Earth Elements (REEs), Gold, Copper Explorer Liberty Star to Conduct New Geochemical Studies at Hay Mountain, Southeast Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce that new geochemical field work will be conducted on a portion of its Hay Mountain claim block, part of the larger Tombstone Super Project (TSP). Also, preliminary archaeology surveys of the new sample locations are nearing completion.

“Rethinking Rare Earth Element Potential in Arizona”

As the worldwide demand for rare earth elements exploration heats up, the Hay Mountain rare earth anomaly covering at least 7 to 9 square miles gains importance. Until the Liberty Star discovery Arizona had no important REE occurrences (“Rethinking Rare Earth Element Potential in Arizona,” Lee Allison 11/15/2012). We have samples of one heavy rare earth (yttrium) plus three light rare earths (see below) and are now planning to define the potential of this area by running assays for the 13 REEs that haven’t been run yet as well as taking additional samples for better definition of the anomalies.

Rock, soil and vegetation samples will be collected on recently acquired claims (NR 143) and in between existing samples to identify and refine additional targets for porphyry copper and associated minerals including gold, silver, moly, zinc and a number of rare earth elements. According to Arizona State Land Department regulations an additional archeology study will be required before work can begin. The field work for this study is within a few days’ completion. Only two very small archaeological sites which are insignificant have been located to date.

As samples from this new geochemical study reach our certified assay lab, ALS Geochemistry in Vancouver, they will undergo analysis for all 17 rare earth elements. Previous assay work on TSP samples included review for only four rare earth elements (scandium, yttrium, lanthanum and cerium), which were present in soil samples (NR 122) and vegetation samples (NR 123). Also, Liberty Star will request that assay work for additional REEs be completed on samples submitted to the ALS facility in 2012 (NR 127).
