Liberty Star Renews Claim Rental For All Arizona Properties

Tucson, Arizona – September 28, 2009 – Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (the “Company” LBSR: OTCBB)is pleased to announce that payment has been completed on its Arizona claims for 2009/2010. All rental affidavits have been recorded by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and returned to the Company. The Arizona claims comprise the Companys three Arizona mineral exploration stage projects: the North Pipes Super Project for uranium and other metals, the East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project and the Tombstone Porphyry- Precious Metals Project.

Liberty Star's North Pipes Super Project federal lode-mining claims range over 38,000 acres (about 60 sq miles) on the Arizona Strip region of the Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona. The Arizona Strip is historically the world’s second richest uranium-mining region and the richest in the United States with an average ore grade of nearly one percent. In addition to high-grade uranium, the Arizona Strip’s breccia pipe structures have produced copper, silver and vanadium. Among the other metals known to occur within the pipes are zinc, cobalt, nickel, moly, gallium, and germanium.

The East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project is about 40 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona. The 26 unpatented lode-mining claims lie less than five miles from Asarco’s Silver Bell Mine and Solvent Extraction – Electrowinning Plant (SXEW). Thirty- three patented federal lode-mining claims comprise theTombstone Porphyry - Precious Metal Project located about 60 miles southeast of Tucson. Both of these exploration stage projects are in southeastern Arizona, which remains one of the world’s richest porphyry copper mining regions.
