Liberty Star Receives Updated ZTEM, South Block Big Chunk, Alaska

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (LBSR: OTCBB) is pleased to announce that the Company has received updated, geophysical ZTEM electromagnetic imagery of the south block of its Big Chunk Super Project (“BCSP”) in southwestern Alaska.

GEOTECH LTD. Airborne Geophysical Surveys delivered the updated data comprising:

  • 172 processed inversions on 134 lines. This includes all lines flown during the 2009 (NR 83) survey. The August, 2009 survey was flown at 250 meter (825 feet) line intervals but only every other line was processed, giving a resolution of lines at 500 meters or 1,650 feet apart. Further, processing at that time assumed a flat earth and did not take into account topography. When the report was originally delivered, software was not able to process all the data from all the lines, nor elevation data. Newer software developed by Geotech can take into account topography, which yields more accurate results, and can handle all the computations necessary to address all of the lines, not just every other one. Trillions of computations are required in processing this data to make it useful.
  • We have resistivity slices over the claim block at depths of 100, 300, 500, and 1,000 meter depths, allowing visibility of changes in equivalents to mineralization at 330 feet, 990 feet 1,650 feet and 3,300 feet. Slides 8 to 179 show inversions (equivalent of cross sections) over the 90 Hz DT image. These are the images that allow interpretation of where porphyry copper structures may be and thus direct drilling.
  • The resolution of this imaging of the original data gives us a much more accurate (higher resolution) picture of what is present at depth. It will be directly compared to geochemical data from Liberty Star’s 11 thousand sample surveys analyzed for 64 elements. It allows much more accurately positioned drill sites for future drilling.

Comments James Briscoe, Liberty Star’s CEO and Chief Geologist, “ZTEM technology has improved since 2009 when the processed survey was first presented to us. We applaud and appreciate Geotech’s efforts to deliver to us an updated detailed view of our south block. We will use this information to draw detailed plans for drilling at the Big Chunk as soon as possible.”
