Copper, Gold, Moly, Uranium, Rare Earth Elements Arizona Exploration Projects 2012/2013 USBLM Claim Rental Fees Paid

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce 2012/2013 yearly rental fees for the North Pipes Super Project in northwestern Arizona, East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project and federal claim blocks of the Tombstone Super Project in southeastern Arizona have been paid to the United States Bureau of Land Management from the Company’s operating funds account.

The North Pipes Super Project on the Arizona Strip (Mohave County, Arizona) consists of 356 federal lode mining claims in numerous target zones or “breccia pipes” believed to host uranium and other metals. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the breccia pipes in this region are of high grade compared to sediment hosted roll front deposits mined throughout the western United States, with an estimated potential average grade for ore bearing pipes at about 0.7% to 0.8% uranium, which makes them the second highest average grade uranium deposits in the world. Several primary targets have been identified and are drill ready.

The East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project exploration stage site includes 26 unpatented federal lode mining claims within the Silver Bell Mining District located 40 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona. The property immediately abuts the patented claims of Asarco Mining LLC with mining partner Mitsui Mining of Japan. Asarco has a solvent extraction electrowinning (SXEW) plant approximately 4 1/2 miles to the west of the East Silver Bell Project property line.

The Hay Mountain block of the Tombstone Super Project (Cochise County, Arizona) consists of 57 unpatented federal lode mining claims in addition to Arizona State land leases (Mineral Exploration Permits, “MEPs”). MEPs are the first step in completing an Arizona State land mining lease. The Company has completed the required assessment work to hold the State leases (MEPs). This land position covers geologically, geophysically, geochemically indicated completely covered porphyry copper-moly-silver-gold, and rare earth element (REE) mineral center. One major target within the Hay Mountain claim block is defined along with four other smaller targets. Liberty Star has recently discovered a large intrusion indicated by an aerially extensive low flight level magnetic survey under and partially exposed in and around the Tombstone caldera (NR 129). Mineralization is clearly associated with this intrusive body. The Tombstone Super Project’s Walnut Creek claim block has been enlarged by the staking of an additional nine claims, for a total of 42 unpatented federal lode mining claims.

Liberty Star will continue to refine plans for drilling these various target areas, with Hay Mountain in initial process of permitting drill hole locations.
