Liberty Star Pays USBLM Claim Rental Fees for 2013/2014, Southeast Arizona Copper-Gold Projects

TUCSON, Ariz.–(August 20)–Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (“Liberty Star” or the “Company”) (LBSR: OTCQB) is pleased to announce 2013/2014 yearly rental fees for federal claim blocks of the Tombstone Super Project (TSP), including the Hay Mountain area, in southeast Arizona (Cochise County) and the East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project (Pima County) have been paid to the United States Bureau of Land Management (USBLM) from the Company’s operating funds account.

Liberty Star’s CEO/Chief Geologist  discovered a large intrusion indicated by an aerially extensive low flight level magnetic survey under and partially exposed in and around the Tombstone caldera (NR 129). Mineralization is clearly associated with this intrusive body. The land position covers geologically, geophysically, geochemically indicated completely covered porphyry copper-gold-moly-silver, and rare earth element mineral center. One major target within the Hay Mountain claim block is defined along with four other smaller targets. The Hay Mountain block of the TSP consists of 57 unpatented federal lode mining claims in addition to 15 Arizona State land leases (Mineral Exploration Permits, “MEPs”). Fees on the 15 MEPs are due in October.  ZTEM geophysical survey overflights of the Hay Mountain Project were recently completed by Geotech Ltd (NR 158, July 16). The interpreted data is expected in a few weeks.  Liberty Star will continue to refine plans for drilling these various target areas. The TSP’s Walnut Creek claim block remains at 42 unpatented federal lode mining claims.

The East Silver Bell Porphyry Copper Project exploration stage site includes 26 unpatented federal lode mining claims within the Silver Bell Mining District located 40 miles northwest of Tucson, Arizona. The property immediately abuts the patented claims of Asarco Mining LLC with mining partner Mitsui Mining of Japan. Asarco has a solvent extraction electrowinning (SXEW) plant approximately 4 1/2 miles to the west of the East Silver Bell Project property line.
